| Key Responsibilities: |
1, Project Set-up and Management
Lead and coordinate the product development efforts and insure that newly developed or localized products meet the design objectives and appropriate standards in the agree timing.
Focus on creating and implementing manufacturable and cost effective Pressure Sensitive Tape designs and then provide Engineering support to the transition process to production. You follow-up till the products are turned-over to Production.
Document organized design plans that include, among other items; Analysis, test procedures, specifications, regulatory compliance information, process parameters, drawings, ...
You will work closely together with the Technical Manager, the Product Managers, Process Engineers, Lab Assistants, the Avery Research Center staff, and your European and US colleagues and the Purchasing / Sourcing colleagues.
2, Analysis, Evaluation and Documentation of Product Requirements/Specifications
Get full understanding of market, customer, application or product requirements. Work closely with the Sales and Product Management
Study existing specifications and conduct analysis of present (competitive) samples to better understand the requirements. On this you will be supported by Lab Assistants
Establish and document full product and performance requirement specifications which will be used during the component and construction development AND will function as the benchmark for final project evaluation.
Consult with European and US colleagues to screen whether there are existing products or components which meet the requirements.
3, Product Component Selection & Development
Select the right components which meet the physical property requirements
- Adhesive, Carriers, Liners, Release Systems, other (biet, hook, ....)
Must be able to balance selection decisions with regard to performance and cost. An engineer in this position must know when to re-use technology and when it is appropriate to develop/source new components.
Search and qualify new raw materials and/or sources of raw materials. Assist in vendor qualification and development.
Ensure processability of the different components on our manufacturing lines (coating, slitting, lamination, ...)
4, Product Construction Development & Upgrade
Develop new product constructions, using the selected raw materials and evaluate compatibility of the individual components.
Redesign & upgrade old products according to customer needs or due to changes in availability of certain components / raw materials.
Ensure processability of the new construction on our manufacturing lines (coating, slitting, lamination, ...)
Apply 'Design of Experiment' and 'Design for Six Sigma' where applicable.
Define or establish testing methods and product specifications to ensure quality and? performance during manufacturing. This needs to be done in collaboration with QA and Production.
5, Scale-up : From Lab to Production line
Guide the newly develop or upgraded product from lab or pilot scale to full production. Follow up on initial physical testing and processing to ensure consistency of quality and performance
Document Turn-over and complete paperwork
6, Knowledge Build-up and Transfer
Advises management on technical trends and evolutions. Investigates and disseminates knowledge pertinent to new adhesive and film technologies and products.
You will also work with global product development teams in translation of products to meet local market demand.

| Job Requirements: |
1, Bachelor degree
In chemistry, polymer physics or engineering (chemical, polymer) or equivalent
2, 5+ years experience
Adhesives, Resins, Chemicals, Plastics Industry. More than two years hands-on product development background
Knowledge, experience and/or background in one of the following areas is required :
- Solvent Adhesive (Acrylic, Mod. Acrylic, Silicone, etc...)
- Hotmelt Adhesive (Rubber)
- Liner & (Silicone and non-silicone) Release Coating
- Plastic Films (BOPP, CPP, PET, PVC, ...)
- Adhesive Mixing, Compounding, Coating and/or extrusion
- Resin or Rubber Development
3, Innovation

4, Six Sigma - Cost Savings
Be creative and innovative in searching for cost savings for existing and products in development. You drive the process according to the Six Sigma Methodology
You certify as a Green Belt within the first 2 years of Employment
5, Have the ability to schedule, manage and prioritise multiple product development projects.
You act as the Project Manager for each of your development projects and follow them, thru to succesful completion.
6, Precise, accurate, detailed and complete in evaluation, analysis and reports.
You document the various steps in the process, for future reference and communication.
7, Have a systematic and logical approach to problem solving.
Being hands-on, analytical , using creativity and being innovative.
8, Be comfortable in a technically demanding environment, have a strong learning ability, be self-motivated; able to work autonomously, take initiative
9, Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills ; ability to work with people at all levels of the organization and be able to work within and lead a multi discipline group.
10, Be familiar with the typical analytical property test methods like FTIR, X-Ray, GCMS,...
